Raj Musix Kannada, a 24-hour TV channel devoted to Kannada music, formally went on air on March 9. Raj Musix Kannada is part of Raj Television Network Ltd, Chennai, and this is their first foray into Karnataka. Raj TV has tied up with MQ Networks Pvt Ltd for exclusively handling the Raj Musix Kannada operations in Karnataka.
Talking about the group’s plans for Karnataka, Raajhendhran, Managing Director of Raj TV, said, “The Kannada market is now maturing and we felt it is the right time to step into this region and replicate our success in Tamil Nadu, here. We will be launching a Kannada news channel very soon, and subsequently we have plans to launch a Kannada GEC and Kannada movie channel.”
MQ Networks, a Bangalore-based 360 degree media company, is providing the entire content and management to the channel. MS Mahesh, Managing Director, MQ Networks, in an official release said, “Raj Musix Kannada will offer an array of refreshingly new programmes to the viewers. The content is aimed at the upwardly mobile Kannada youth in the age group of 12-24 years and will offer them a never before viewed experience.”
The channel has roped in Arvind Kumar, former Deputy CEO of Zee Telefilms, as CEO of the channel. Kumar is a media professional with over 25 years of experience in media, advertising and marketing. Speaking about the channel’s plans, Kumar said, “Raj Musix will not only offer non-stop entertainment to its viewers, but also share with them an attitude, poise and the outlook to face today’s world. We are striving to see the urban youth identify with this channel and wear it on their sleeves like a fashion statement, like it’s cool to be with Raj Musix.”
Prasanna Vasantha Kumar, Executive Director, MQ Networks, added here, “We have designed shows to suit the moods of our viewers during various times of the day. ‘Escape’, ‘Sakkath’, ‘Majaa Madi’, ‘Famous’, and ‘Bombart’ are some of our shows named after the typical lingo of today’s youth and strike an instant cord with them.”
Raj Musix Kannada has been on air for the last two weeks and was officially launched on March 9. Ground distribution has been tied up with most of the MSOs and operators across Karnataka.
